I am a graduate of the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland, where I studied music theory, as well as composition under Professor Marian Borkowski and conducting under Professor Bogusław Madey.
Between 1983-1993, I led “Zhuravli” – a Ukrainian Men’s Choir and during that time I toured Europe, Canada, the US and Ukraine.
I am the founder of the Cappella Corale Varsaviana Choir in Warsaw and also collaborate with the National Choir of Ukraine “DUMKA”.
Since the mid-1990s, I have also been actively performing and conducting with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine in Kyiv, the Belarusian State Orchestra in Minsk, and philharmonic orchestras in Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Slovakia and Serbia.
In 1995, together with composers from the Lviv Branch of the Composers’ Union of Ukraine, I founded the Contemporary Music Festival “Contrasts” in Lviv. As part of the festival, I had the opportunity to conduct world premieres of compositions by Igor Shcherbakov, Yuri Laniuk, Edward Sielicki, Bohdana Frolyak, as well as Ukrainian premieres of works by Witold Lutosławski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Andrzej Nikodemowicz and Arvo Pärt, among others.
In 1998, I established the Pro Musica Viva Foundation and have organized a number of projects in Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, and most recently in Latvia and Lithuania, as part of its activities.
As an artist and music promoter, I focus on the advancement of Polish music in Ukraine and Ukrainian music in Poland.
In 1999 I founded the “Days of Ukrainian Music in Warsaw” festival and have acted as its artistic director ever since.
